300世帯の住宅地でのコミュニケーションツールとして、月間カレンダーと地域新聞(月ごと)を自主発行しています。(発行元：NPO法人Connection Of Children) 私たちも設計期間中には、この記事の一部を書かせてもらっていました。
不思議なことに、情報を発信することで逆に情報が集まってくるようになりました。新聞を読んだ地域の方から、「空き家があるから行ってみたら？」と声をかけていただき、そこで建具や家具をいただいて、それらを再構築しながら設計を進めていったりと、まさに新聞は、丘の町に広がる出来事とふれあう入口でした。
そういう意味で、メディアをつくることと建築設計が、切っても切り離せない関係となっています。今も毎月、運営するNPO法人Connection Of Childrenの皆さんが新聞を自主発行しています。新聞は、町内会の配布物に混ぜてもらい、丘の300世帯に配布されています。
As a communication tool within a residential area of approximately 300 households, a monthly calendar and a locally produced newspaper are independently published. (Publisher: NPO Connection of Children.) During the design period, we also contributed by writing parts of these articles.
Interestingly, by sharing information, more information began to flow back in return. Local residents who read the newspaper would say, “There’s a vacant house—why don’t you take a look?” Through such encounters, we received building materials and furniture, and continued the design process while reconstructing and reusing them. In this sense, the newspaper became a gateway for encounters and exchanges across the hillside community.
In this way, creating media and architectural design have become inseparable practices. Today, members of the NPO Connection of Children, which operates the project, continue to publish the newspaper every month. The newspaper is distributed to all 300 households on the hill, bundled together with neighborhood association notices.
