A Large Round Table That Brings the Entire Office Together

事務所に置ける範囲でなるべく大きいテーブルがあったらいいなと思い、直径1.5mの丸いテーブルをつくりました。丸は、囲む人たちを、ヒエラルキーの無いフラットな関係にしてくれます。1.5mの丸は、ひとりで大きく資料を広げてつかうことはもちろん、大勢でぐるり囲んでランチをしたり、それぞれ離れて座ってバラバラに作業をしたり、いろいろな状況を受けいれてくれます。

このテーブルでは、天板を12mmの3×6板を２枚重ね合わせてつくっています。その時にできる継ぎ目を中心から少しずらしたり、コンセント穴を偏心させてくり抜いたり、居心地と使い勝手を生むディティールを組み込んでいます。 最大直径2.4mまで製作可能です。

We wanted a table that could be as large as possible within the limits of what could fit in the office, so we made a round table with a diameter of 1.5 meters. The circular form places those gathered around it in a flat, non-hierarchical relationship.

At 1.5 meters in diameter, the table accommodates a wide range of uses: from a single person spreading out large materials, to many people gathering around it for lunch, to individuals sitting apart and working independently.

The tabletop is made by laminating two 12 mm 3×6 plywood sheets. Details that enhance comfort and usability are incorporated, such as shifting the joint slightly away from the center and placing the cable outlet off-center. The table can be produced with a maximum diameter of up to 2.4 meters.
